NewGround Entertainment L.L.C. is an independent record label based out of Staten Island, New York encompassing a broad range of businesses including recording, music production, film production, recording facility, marketing and apparel.

HISTORY

NewGround Entertainment was founded by Haghi “NV” Suka and long time friend Kelby Tejeda in 2004.  After months of negotiations with numerous record companies to finalize a record deal for his solo career as a performer, Haghi realized the entertainment business was and still is “90% business and only 10% show.” 

Signing with a major record label was not in the best interest for Haghi’s solo career.  Feeling the business aspect of the music game was taking away from the purity of their music, which is what drove them to pursue their craft in the first place, there was only one option for Haghi and Kelby.  Hence NewGround Entertainment was born.

Upon its creation, NewGround was principally an R&B/Hip Hop and Pop label.  NewGround began with the signing of two artists, Haghi, also known by his stage name “NV” and long time friend/collaborator Elizabeth Styles.  Two years later in 2006 NewGround branched into another genre, Reggaeton, by the signing of Mr. Tejeda’s older brother and Mr. Suka’s long time friend, Luidely “Fuerza” Baez. 

Today NewGround’s music is being heard worldwide and is well respected in New York City, not only for their distinctive style of music, but also because of its unique family oriented environment.  Although there has been no luck with the backing from a major label to distribute NewGround’s music main stream, the independent label continues to gain clout from the public at an astonishing rate, making their music highly critically acclaimed.

With both Mr. Suka and Mr. Tejeda’s innate talent as powerful producers and arrangers, who have an ear for recognizing great talent, there is no stopping the future success of this influential independent label.
